Create Your Own Cash Discount Card Program With ScriptCard
If you have customers who use cash discount cards to help pay for their prescriptions, you know the cards come with an administrative fee of $3 to $6 per claim. So while customers may save money, the high transaction fees make it cost prohibitive for you to fill their prescriptions.
The following is an example of a pharmacy processing a prescription with a patient’s discount card:
Prescription example:
- AWP= $168.64 (for 30-day supply)
- AWP-15% + $2: (the discount card reimbursement rate)
- $168.64- 15% + $2 = 145.34
- $145.34 - $3 administrative fee= $142.34
If the pharmacy has 50 patients on this same reimbursement for one month, it would pay the PBM $150 for using the discount card.
However, a member pharmacy using ScriptCard or ScriptCard Plus would keep the $3 administrative fee on each prescription filled in house.
