As you know, it is imperative that pharmacies stay up to date on current issues and changes related to Medicare Part D. With the new Medicare Part D open enrollment date coming up on October 15, 2011, it’s even more vital for pharmacies to know that key information.
Multiple modifications will become effective starting January 1, 2012 including:
- Pharmacies will be required to process claims using NCPDP Version D.0;
- PBMs will have unique BIN/PCN requirements for claims processing;
- Pharmacies will begin to receive rejections for required Action for Patients’ Rights Notices;
- Pharmacies will have an additional Prescription Origin Code to specify claims where they have generated a new Rx number from an existing valid prescription number;
- And more.
