FDA Announces Public Hearing on Future of National Drug Code

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a public hearing on the future format of the National Drug Code (NDC).

The FDA acknowledged that it will eventually run out of five-digit labeler codes. To maximize the benefits of the inevitable change to the codes, the FDA is seeking input from stakeholders through a public hearing.

Specifically, the agency will be looking for the following input on four NDC options:
