New OIG Report Analyzes Effects of Rising Drugs Costs on Medicare Spending

Increasing brand-name drug prices may be affecting Medicare and its beneficiaries, according to a new report released June 5 by the Office of Inspector General (OIG).

The OIG report comes in response to national attention to rising drug costs in Medicare Part D.

“Recent increases in prescription drug prices have drawn the attention of Congress, made headlines in major media outlets, and raised concerns in government agencies that reimburse for these drugs,” the report said.
