Local Pharmacy Donates Life-Changing Equipment to LTC Facility

Mike Burns, president and CEO of AuBurn Pharmacies, and board member of PBA Health, potentially changed the lives of hundreds of vulnerable people who have been living in isolation for nearly a year due to Covid-19.

Burns purchased and donated a special air filtration system for a long-term care facility housing hundreds of residents who haven’t been able to receive visits from their loved ones, even those who were passing away. The unique air filter uses ultraviolet light to disinfect the air, which the vice president of services at Sonic Equipment Company, who manufactures the air system, says kills viruses and bacteria. With this new system producing clean air throughout the building, the facility hopes that residents will finally be able to start receiving visitors and be better protected against Covid-19.

“Having these units here can bring us one step closer to, not just saving lives, but, hopefully, being able to partially open the doors to allow families and loved ones to at least come in,” Burns told KSHB Kansas City.
